"Executive control” or self control is seen as the ability to pay attention to appropriate stimuli and initiate appropriate behaviour (inhibiting inappropriate behaviour). ”Because meditators are more aware of their feelings, they may pick up on that feeling more quickly and use it to improve their behaviour” says Rimma Teper PhD student and co-author of the paper. “Meditators are attuned to their emotions. They’re also good at regulating their emotions”.
